Bookbag

Well I knew my last purse wasn't going to be big enough, what was I thinking trying to go smaller?  so I made this very basic purse/ book-bag. I am taking a couple college classes that are not online and actually have to go to a classroom so wanted something thats big enough for holding a folder and a textbook at least. It has one large outside pocket and a zippered pocket, I placed the zipper behind the pink piping to hide it a little.  I really didn't want to set in a top zipper so I added a lip on the inside that has a drawstring; this is my first one and I really like the end result. AND this project was 100% stash fabric.

quest for the perfect purse

my newest purse inspired by Simplicity 5308 view B. what I like about it:
1. it has a flap, which I like but sometimes I get annoyed with flaps that sometimes get in the way so I added to the  outside covering 2 large pockets- the main compartment is access by zipper on top
2. it has a short handle and a larger handle that can clip off and tuck into large outside back pocket, I use the short handle most of the time but for hands-free shopping its nice to have the large handle accessible
3.All the fabric came from my stash

What I don't like:
1. the elastic on the back pocket isn't tight enough it gaps a lot and I think it looks diaper-baggy
2. the front pockets are gappy, I should have given them more dimension along the bottom
3. no dedicated cell phone pocket

christmas sewing

although I wasn't planning on sewing this holiday due to work and an online class I did manage a few things. a red velvet scarf with beaded edges for M, made from a remnant that i've had in my stash for years, why didn't i think of this sooner? and a fairy house purse with vinyl windows and flower box and cat waiting on the doorstep, and mini fairy with apron for R

tri-fold purse-2nd generation

well I spent the last few days planning this out, I have been using my original trifold purse for a few years and made some improvements, though I have found a few areas that still need tweaking. this is poly swede (home-dec)  with cotton lining the top flap has a snap but on the side I decided to use a pant close- hook- which I'm not sure about yet, I don't know why I didn't want a snap there like the previous version so I am going to give it a try, I can easily add a snap, the inside is pretty much the same, I added a cash slot behind the id/card section. but the biggest change is a outside pocket along the back with an strap that can be adjusted to wristlet or longer for shoulder.

goldfish purse

I had to make one of these after seeing this and this  which from I borrowed heavily. And I got to use some of my favorite things: sequin trim and shiny toole. Its not very big but will hold a few things. I didn't use a pattern,  I took apart the black sequin purse from a few entries ago to re-use the closure. heres my inspiration; my hugely obese fancy goldfish.

purse for Carrie finished!

I finally finished Carrie's purse, loosely based on Simplicity 4535 I added a zipper closing and snaps to to outside pockets, a zippered pocket along the back seam, a cell phone pocket on the side. I hope she likes it.
